Last week, the #SouthCentralRIC Center Support and Application Support & Training teams came together to learn more about each department, strengthen their partnership and develop skills that enhance our work. Several members of the team volunteered to finish their afternoon by wrapping presents for the Broome-Tioga BOCES annual giving tree event. #Collaboration #CaringCommunity #ContinuousLearning
Alex (SCRIC), Kyle (PLIC), and Binghamton High School principal Kevin presented a session at NYSCATE, showcasing the implementation journey of their Generative AI Pilot Program. This program aims to teach high school students how to use Generative AI safely and ethically within an academic setting.
The session covered the development of teachers' expertise in Generative AI, the creation of AI policy, the decision-making process for selecting an AI platform, and the strategic structure of the Pilot Program to ensure its success. Additionally, they shared real examples of how students are using generative AI in their classroom experiences, along with insights from participating teachers and students.
💡 The South Central RIC Managed Technology Service empowers districts with strategic technology leadership that bridges the gap between districts and BOCES by providing seamless coordination, leadership at the administrative level, and expert policy advisement. We value partnering together to achieve your district’s goals! 🌟 https://core-docs.s3.us-east-1.amazonaws.com/documents/asset/uploaded_file/3339/SCRIC/3905593/Managed_Technology_Service.pdf
We believe employees thrive when they are connected to and supported by their colleagues. Our managed services coordinators do this by meeting regularly to share ideas, information and knowledge, learn how to build a strong team, ask for help or advice, encourage one another, develop skills, practice security scenarios, and plan for the future. Their last meeting featured a unique team-building activity to learn how to accomplish a common goal as a team with a given set of resources.
✨ In the Summer of 2024, our Solutions & Operations team deployed 120 new switches which involved working in 35 separate wiring closets throughout our districts! 💻 This significant upgrade from 10-year-old switches empowers our districts to deploy and take full advantage of the latest wireless and security technologies—now and in the future. 🌐

Last week, the SCRIC leadership team and other SCRIC team representatives joined together to participate in a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Cybersecurity Tabletop Exercise. This was a fantastic opportunity for multiple teams across the organization, as well as BT BOCES, to engage in critical thinking and problem-solving in a simulated cyber-attack scenario. Stay tuned for updates as we collaborate to strengthen our cybersecurity defenses!
